We did a room block here for our wedding in January. While the hotel itself was magnificent and grand beyond measure, the standard rooms are much smaller than we were expecting, especially for the price, but that is normal for historic hotels. They had gorgeous high ceilings and the decorations were lovely, but certain things like the bathrooms and the small, slow elevators reminded you that you were in a historic hotel. We were upgraded to a suite for the wedding and it was magical. My bridesmaids and I had a fabulous time getting ready for the wedding that morning. There were a total of 10 ladies in the room and we did not feel cramped. The staff was very helpful and went above and beyond to make our stay extra special. I would recommend this hotel for special occasions when in the Austin area.

The Bellman named Ammon is the best Bellman I've ever had. l've gone to well over a dozen hotels in my lifetime for work and the confidence and kindness from Ammon has left a lasting impression on me. The night before my stay I tipped my waitress all the cash I had left in my wallet so I wan unable to give Ammon any tip for his outstanding service to me. He answered every question of mine perfectly and knew where everything was in my room, he even offered to grab me ice, a lot of other bellman's l've had have never been so considerate to me, and this was all after I informed him that I did not have any cash to hand out. When he told me it was only his first week working at the Driskill I was astounded. He was phenomenal, bravo Ammon; Keep up the good work.

I'm sure this was once a beautiful and luxurious place to stay, but now it feels run down.

Our room has the strangest layout. You could hear every footstep of the guests above and the whole place shakes until late if it's a night when the ballroom is in use. The new hotels springing up in Austin offer a much more comfortable experience. Only stay here if you want to ghost hunt.

Bring earplugs.

Good location.

Such a stunning place to stay. Every employee was super nice and helpful. Rooms are just so nice. I would say a hook or something to hold a change of clothes or robe in the bathroom would have been nice. I would love to stay again, maybe after renovations some employees told me about (which sound like a great addition coming). This place is so full of charm and history I hope it stays around for at least another hundred years.

The Driskill used to be a classy hotel. But “class” is not the word that comes to mind in the way they treated me when I tried to book online as a Christmas gift for my wife. My decision to turn to The Driskill for a good time, instead became an hours-long nightmare. I was routed to a third-party business partnership that botched the reservation, never sent me a confirmation email and never sent an itinerary number. When I tried to find my reservation, both the hotel and its business partner said they couldn’t help because I didn’t have the above information that they failed to give me. However, they certainly knew enough about my reservation to quickly take money out of my credit card account — at the same time they said they couldn’t help me with anything else. It took hours before I was able to cancel everything. When I asked a senior manager at the hotel whether she could understand my frustration, she said she could only understand that the hotel did not directly book the room. She said the hotel considers no accountability for what their partnering company does. There was no effort to apologize. No class. I’d recommend finding a hotel that treats their guests, and their prospective guests, better.

beautiful historical hotel, but service is DEPLORABLE! we were charged extra for excessive cleaning, when i called to check on it, was told they had to clean up PUKE from our room - we NEVER puked in our room. opened an investigation, and stood by their word. tried to suggest they must have the wrong room, or maybe the wrong floor, please reopen. rep said THEY DON'T EVER MAKE MISTAKES, and they would not reverse the charges. worst customer service i have ever seen. still waiting for a return call... DO NOT STAY HERE, THEY WILL ROB YOU!

Finally decided to stay here after 15 years in Austin. The hotel was beautiful and rooms were gorgeous - will NEVER be back. The staff was EXTREMELY rude. Charged for 3 rooms vs the 2 we actually reserved, staff said to contact the bank because THEY couldn’t do anything. From the very second they saw us it was like they decided to treat us like garbage. Every single person, the valet, front desk, the staff in the bar and restaurant area ALL OF THEM LIKE RIDICULOUS. Will never tell people to go here - such a disappointment. They will only treat you like a human if it looks like you have money.

Too many ghost hunters roaming the hallways. Proximity to 6th street makes it dirty outside and unsafe. Room accommodations were subpar for the price. Will not stay again.

I am a local native austinite and took a haunted tour with my daughter and her friend who are 13. At the end of the tour nothing was said about us not being able to walk around the hotel. The two children and myself (a woman) were cornered in a hall way by a man with a long beard. He was demanding that we leave and that we had a “professional” camera that we could not bring into the hotel. When it was a 10 year old camera my daughter carried with her the entire tour into multiple locations and took photos the entire time inside the driskill while on the tour and he watched. He demanded that we go down the elevator with him which I then told him that me and the girls are not comfortable being on an elevator alone with him. He then threatens to call the police and explain that I would be happy to have the police escort us and that we would all feel more safe. I then ask for a female to escort us down the elevator and he refuses then threatens to call the police again. He then makes a frivolous call where he then hung up on whom ever he called immediately. I asked if we could take the stairs and he take the the elevator and he demands to follow us down the stairs. I then tell him we will not do that and that he either needs to send a female to escort us or call the police and that we would like to leave. The only way he allowed us to leave was if he practically pushed us into the elevator and pressed the buttons for us. Extremely scary for the underage girls and myself, this man was intimidating, controlling and borderline vulgar. I felt targeted because I had the young girls with me. Please beware bringing children here. I’m almost convinced that we avoided being assaulted or worse. I begged this man to call the police or for a female to help us feel safe and that we are scared to be stuck in a elevator or stair well with him and he would not do EITHER. told me there is no women working when there is a lady right at the front desk and he would refuse to call the police after making such threats. Such a terrifying experience. I have stayed at the driskill and I have also walked around to the bar many time along with walking around the entire hotel, NEVER have I been approached like this.

This is a fun hotel to stay because of the story that it’s haunted and to my amazement it seemed to be that way because we had some experiences that were interesting
Quietest room I have ever stayed in! Historic hotel was built so well! Elegant, easy to get around in hotel, all staff were fabulous!

Attended for a small convention. Premises were great, convenient, and well-maintained. Food was incredible, as was the service staff.

Room, TV was dim but I didn’t need it. Plenty of charging options was appreciated. Comfortable beds and pillows.

Right in the heart of Austin, so many wonderful views, near bars, restaurants, great places to sightsee. Staff was so friendly, felt like a princess. Hotel is opulent and I had heard/read so many stories about hauntings, I was delighted to be there. Would love to go again, it was a great time.

Rudest staff at hotel. Place stinks just horribly
We came for drinks and snacks to take a break from our walk. Beautiful historic hotel, we explored the 2nd story bar; lots of art and classy decor.

This hotel only looks good on their website. It smells like dust and mold as soon as you walk in. The rooms are rather small and they like to vacuum the hallways at midnight. This is by far the worst hotel I've ever stayed at in my life.

Bit hoakey. Wasn’t super comfortable. Room was very small, with a view into an interior alley. Also, they put an extra $500 dinner charge on my folio by mistake which I only discovered two months later. Yikes!

The hotel and ambiance was beyond compare. Every room, ballroom and area smelled amazing- like old library and sandalwood. Full size shampoo, lotion and body wash in each room. Service was discrete and optional. Everyone was incredibly polite and helpful.

So disappointed in The Driskill, I used to work for Hyatt. Has no one there thought to make a $50 Amenity look like something that didn’t come from a convince store! The room comes with 4 waters and they put 2 in the Snack Box! Wow! I will never order an amenity directly through the hotel.

Decent hotel full of history & ghost stories. Rooms are a little old but still decent. We were there during the cold snap and the general temperature of the rooms was a little cold. Check-in was seamless & the staff was generally quite nice. Location is great , close to a lot of the downtown vibrant hot spot. Nice place overall.

Nice place. Cool haunted history. But my room smelled like mildew and there was a random contact lens on the bathroom floor and the mirror above my bed drove me crazy as it was above one side of the bed not in the middle of the whole bed. Also to get there was a nightmare. There was construction everywhere. Which isn't their fault but still!
Very old did not stay but did the 4 0clock tour they have Very nice from what I saw

Beautiful hotel. Stayed in a room with a balcony overlooking 6th Street. Absolutely a wonderful experience! Staff was very friendly, and the lobby smelled amazing (like pine or something). We are local, so even if we're not staying here again, we will definitely come back for the delicious food at the 1886 Cafe.

2 stars for the room since it is slightly better than motel 6. I am flabbergasted by the positive reviews. The lobby, halls, and room are all not clean or maintained. Our flight was delayed 2 hours. When we came in there is a woman at the front desk in a bathroom complaining because her husband was injured in their shower because the glass door exploded. Per the hotel staff, this happens a few times per year. We had to wait 30 minutes to even be able to check in. The elevator had blood all over the floor. The bed is broken in our room, the walls are dirty, the furniture is chipped and scratched and the room smells musky due to an unclean air vent. Wish I took a photo of the bloody elevator. The only good thing about this hotel is the location.

This is my first time staying at the Driskill Hotel, and I will not be back. I wasn't feeling well yesterday evening so wanted to relax, but protesters were outside yelling about the restaurant of the hotel selling foie gras. It was extremely disruptive. I had never even heard of foie gras, but when I looked it up to see what it actually was I could not believe the restaurant would sell something so disgusting. I won't be eating at the restaurant and I won't be back to the hotel.

This was our first stay here and it was amazing! The entrance is easy to access from the street. Easy to unload or get dropped off. The great customer service starts at the door. The front desk members are very welcoming. The rooms will make you feel like royalty. The interior is absolutely gorgeous. If you need anything while in the room, you can either text the front desk or call them and they respond almost immediately. Highly recommend!!!
Conveniently located downtown, excellent friendly staff service. Joseph at the valet station went out of his way to make a delayed departure easy and stress free. Magnificent lobby and great service at their bar. Enjoyed my stay!

We had a wonderful stay at the Driskill hotel in Austin. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the service was impeccable. The location was perfect for exploring the city, as it was close to many attractions and restaurants. The room was a bit small but clean and comfortable. The water pressure of the shower was very nice. The bed was cozy and the amenities were modern and clean. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay in Austin.
The valet guys were the most helpful and attentive I have ever seen. We utilized close to 10 different gentlemen for bags and retrieving/ leaving our vehicle throughout the trip and each one was super polite and helpful and always asking if we needed anything else. The rooms were nice but the walls were thin so we could hear the party next door throughout the night.

Interesting place! The food at the hotel was great - the burger was exceptional! It looked so simple yet the flavours brought back something I haven’t experienced in a long time. Flavours that makes you feel home.
Just because of this, I was super satisfied.

Additionally, the server was super friendly and on top of it.

A little background music going on in the lounge - great vibes for friends and dates.
